Payment Method:
All major credit cards and Debit cards accepted for both round-trip and local customers. At the time of rental a $250.00 deposit along with the total amount due for the rental is required if the renter is using a credit card. If the renter is using a debit card, the security deposit will be 500 USD to 1000 USD (based on the car type) plus the amount of the rental. The deposit is refunded once the vehicle is returned if no further charges apply. EXCEPTIONS: If TPP / SPP / LDW / DDW are taken the deposit is $150.00 Prepaid Cards and checks are not accepted. Your rental may have mandatory, local insurance requirements that result in additional charges at the time of rental.

Notice
According to the new Executive Order, starting 07/01/20 anyone traveling into the San Juan airport must show proof that they are not infected with COVID-19. This can be done by getting tested prior to your arrival and showing proof of a negative result or you must be tested at the airport upon arrival. The test will be mandatory if you do not show a negative result from a prior test. The test is free of charge. We anticipate that the wait times to exit the airport may be extended due to this new measure.
Additional driver
Additional driver fee $10.00 per day - No additional driver under age 25 allowed.
Young driver
Renters age 21-24 will be subject to a 10.00 per day underage surcharge and may only rent Economy, Compact, and Intermediate cars. Young drivers must have a major credit card. Debit cards are not accepted from drivers under 25 years of age. Ages 21-24: LDW = $21.99/day with a $500.00 deductible.
Roadside assistance
ALL CUSTOMERS WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY ENROLLED IN OUR EMERGENCY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE (ERA) WHICH PROVIDES THE FOLLOWING SERVICES FREE OF CHARGE.
Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) and Basic Liability Insurance (BLI) offered by Charlie Car Rental are always optional when you provide valid proof of insurance. Should you have a deductible it must also be shown.
Your insurance must cover the rented vehicle and have liability as well. A simple phone call to your insurance or Credit Card Company can confirm that you have both and or any deductibles you may have. Your insurance card or cover letter showing coverage is sufficient proof. If you use credit card insurance you may simply specify at the time of rental that you are using your credit card insurance. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CREDIT CARD COVERAGE IS PRIMARY. If not you will need to make a claim with your private insurance carrier before making a claim with your credit card insurance. Credit card insurance does not offer liability insurance.
Should your insurance coverage only provide for Liability then the LDW must be taken. Should you not have any liability insurance then the BLI must be taken as Puerto Rico law states that the RENTER of our vehicle is held responsible for any and all damages caused to a third party if at fault.
Rented vehicle credit card coverage: Should you have a credit card that covers a rented vehicle valid proof of liability insurance must shown as credit card insurance does not cover liability.
